Portland Cement (often referred to as OPC, from Ordinary Portland Cement) is the most common type of cement used around the world as its a basic ingredient of concrete, mortar, stucco and most non-specialty grout. It usually originates from limestone. It is a fine powder produced by grinding Portland cement clinker(more than 90%), and a limited amount of calcium sulfate which controls the set time.

Portland cement was developed from natural cements made in Britain in the early part of the nineteenth century. Its name is derived from its similarity toPortland stone, a type of building stone that was quarried on the Isle of Portland in Dorset, England. The Portland Cement Association (PCA) is based in Skokie, IL.

Concrete is one of the oldest building materials, dating back to the Romans in 100 B.C. Like the Romans, today's building and heavy construction industry still relies on concretes strength. Unlike the ancients, modern trade professionals now have more tools to help extend the life of concrete surfaces.

Elite Renovation Systems can help extend the life of your concrete surfaces including concrete garages, mechanical rooms and basements.

There are many different applications you can use to seal floors but one of the products we recommend is an Epoxy Concrete Floor Coating by Sherwin-Williams.

When applied by a professional, this 3 step application is resistant to most wear and tear.  The product allows your concrete to breath while resisting hot tire pick-up. It is also resistant to chemical

agents and damage caused by gasoline, brake fluid, standing water and battery acid. It is also available with Deco-Flakes for a decorative finish. After application, you will have an industrial-grade, nonskid surface that will bring any old floor back to life.
